Featured RoomCougar Room: Molori Safari Lodge South Africa
I can honestly say that I’ve traveled the world and stayed in some fantastic places, but there’s something so special about the Metsi Presidential Suite at the Molori Safari Lodge South Africa that makes it stand out. After checking out some other Molori Safari Lodge reviews, and seeing this listed as one of the most unique hotel rooms, I knew I had to go! I’ll never forget my time here, and even though it was a splurge, it was worth it for the unforgettable experience.
From the location in the Madikwe Game Reserve, the hotel offers guided game drives and tracking experiences so you can see incredible animals (including the endangered African Wild Dog) in the wild! They also offer bush walks and a whiskey bar that overlooks a watering hole — you can’t get that just anywhere. Plus it all came with incredible service and concierge-level attention to every single detail, so I was super impressed every moment of my trip.
Thinking about going on a safari vacation? I covered my stay at the Metsi Presidential Suite at the Molori Safari Lodge inside and out. Check out this inside peek at one of the best Safari hotels in Africa!
Getting to the Molori Safari Lodge South Africa
First you might be wondering, “Where is the Molori Safari Lodge South Africa?” If you guessed South Africa, you’re not getting bonus points since it’s in the name, but let me tell you it’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen in my life and definitely one of the best hotels in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Molori Safari Lodge is in the Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa’s North West Province. It’s close to the border of Botswana and is super secluded for privacy and a true feeling of getting away from everything. From the amazing property I could see the Dwarsberg Mountains and the Madikwe Valley.
What I thought was even cooler is that the Madikwe Game Reserve is South Africa’s fifth largest game reserve. It’s got the Super Seven, which is the Big Five (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and African buffalo) plus cheetahs and the African wild dog. Lots of incredible wildlife to snap photos of during your vacation!

If you’ve followed my journeys then you’ve seen my reviews of little-known romantic destinations plus travels all over the world, but this spot stands out as so unique that it’s like a class by itself.
Entrance of the Metsi Presidential Suite
Walking up to the entrance of my enormous suite at the Molori Safari Lodge, I loved how secluded it was. The property has spared no expense to make each of the rooms available feel like you’ve got the wildlife reserve to yourself! The trees are so beautiful and I was obsessed with the stonework. It really set the tone so I knew I was about to be blown away inside.
Walking into the double doors, my room had a huge chandelier in the entrance room. The entry table and artwork was minimal but chic. I could see all the way through the main living space from the entrance and the way they’ve designed the Metsi Presidential Suite really blends indoors and outdoors so it felt like I was in nature while living in paradise for a few days!

The living areas of this suite all blend together perfectly so you never feel trapped or closed off from anything. It’s a blend of opulence (there’s legit no other word to describe it!) combined with traditional African art.
The main living room area is connected with a dining spot and the kitchen. It’s all surrounded by walls of floor-to-ceiling windows that took my breath away! The furniture was super comfy and gave me plenty of options for resting and relaxing while inside.
The Metsi Suite has a study and library area, too. I wasn’t there to be working, but I loved checking out their collection of National Geographic magazines. It’s a specially curated collection that dates all the way back to the 1940s and was really a nice touch. It was the little details like this that give it my vote as one of the best safari hotels in Africa!
The Bedrooms of the Metsi Suite at Molori Safari Lodge
This enormous suite has two bedrooms. Sure, I only needed the one, but I tried them both out!
The primary bedroom could be something straight out of a design magazine. I was so impressed. The chandelier here was so beautiful (I keep using that word, but there’s just nothing else that can describe it) and I am a sucker for gorgeous light fixtures. The huge room had its own sitting area, a super comfy king bed, plus a walkthrough for the incredible ensuite bathroom.

Even the bathroom area of my room had its own sitting space! Plus a double vanity, so you won’t be having to share one sink. One of the most incredible features of the Metsi Presidential Suite, though, was the bathtub. It has a spa bath in its own small space in the primary bathroom that is surrounded by windows so I could relax and feel like I was right in nature.
My room also had its own walk-in dressing room, which just added another nice touch to what was already one of my favorite places I’ve ever stayed.
The smaller secondary bedrooms have special attention to detail, too. It had tons of natural light with walls of windows, a comfortable bed, and its own gorgeous ensuite bathroom. No matter which room you stay in, you’re not gonna be disappointed. I know I wasn’t!
Outdoor Areas at the Molori Safari Lodge Metsi Suite
I was in Africa in a wildlife reserve, so I didn’t plan on spending all my time inside! Sure, it’s a nice retreat when it gets hot, but the Molori Safari Lodge Metsi Suite also has an incredible outdoor area. The main property has two pools you can use, but this suite had an outdoor area with my own private pool and jacuzzi. It was on another level, for sure.

Beyond the pool and jacuzzi, there’s also an outdoor shower that I made use of more than once. Plus another sitting area for me to be able to relax and unwind in the fresh air with incredible views of the wildlife reserve around me.
All the outdoor spots had plenty of shade, so I wasn’t being blasted by the sun. One side of the outdoor areas even had a little swing bed that was absolutely incredible for relaxing and reading my book for a bit.
Other Features of the Metsi Presidential Suite
I covered the way the suite is laid out, but I wanted to give you even more reasons you have to stay at this incredible hotel suite! Where a lot of places have amenities to help you feel relaxed, the Molori Safari Lodge has taken things up a notch. They had everything I could need and more like:
- Outdoor shower
- Minibar and Nespresso machine (gotta have my coffee!)
- Service kitchen
- Fireplace
- Heated flooring
- Air conditioning
More than just these, my stay at the Molori Safari Lodge Metsi Suite also came with guided game drives, bush walks, nighttime animal viewings, and a couple spa treatments that you know I had to experience. It was an out-of-this-world vacation and I’m so happy I came here.
